GOLFER Joost Luiten had a meltdown after getting three clubs stuck in a TREE.

The Dutchman struck a wayward tee shot on the ninth during the final round of the DP Tour in Dubai.

Luiten was so fuming from a bogey on the previous hole, he furiously threw his driver into a tree.

But things got worse as the TaylorMade then got stuck - prompting a hilarious effort to try and get it back.

Luiten's caddie attempted to climb the tree to retrieve it - only to fail.

So the six-time European Tour winner took matters into his own hands and launched two of his irons to try to bring the driver back down.

Unsurprisingly, both got stuck and Luiten then tried to use a signpost as his next way of getting the clubs down.

It prompted laughter from those watching on but the golf star did not see the funny side.

Instead, Luiten kicked his bag in frustration as he proceeded to play the rest of the final hole with 11 clubs.

In the end, the lost clubs returned to him thanks to the help of a volunteer and his pregnant wife Melanie-Jane.

Eventually, Luiten finished in the 48th spot in a 50-man field and spoke out about the viral incident afterward.

He said: "I had just made bogey at the eighth. I was frustrated, one of those weeks [when] nothing went my way.

“Lost it and threw my driver and it got stuck up a tree. That sums up my week nicely.

“I tried to get it out by throwing some other clubs at it and [two] other clubs got stuck up the tree so I couldn’t get them out.”
