An extreme cleaner scrubs and tidies homes for FREE – and says it helps her mental health.

Ivana Uherksa, 41, struggled with depression and decided to help her neighbour clean her messy home.

The mum-of-one found it satisfying transforming the untidy space into a liveable adobe and started asking if anyone else needed help.

Now she has cleaned 10 houses for free so far – helping families and single parents get on top of their mess.

Ivana says the process helps with her own mental health and she hopes to set up a charity one day.

Ivana, a bar tender, from Shoreditch, London, said: “I got really depressed. I wasn’t happy with my life.

“I binged watched this girl cleaning houses and thought 'I could do that'.

“My neighbours house was a mess. I said ‘please let me help you’.

“I need something to keep myself busy.

“It was so satisfying. People love and appreciate it.

“I like to help somebody else.”

Ivana helps people battling depression or those with other mental health struggles who have not been able to keep on top of their homes and let the mess pile up.

She started helping her neighbours, but after sharing her cleans on TikTok she was able to start helping followers who were brave enough to reach out.

Ivana said: “Some people are so ashamed.

“It’s a cycle.

“The state of your house affects the state of your mind.”

The worst houses Ivana has had to tackle include bug infestations and mess piled up so high in the hallways it was hard for her to get in.

She recently transformed a single mum’s dining room so she is now able to sit and eat dinner with her son.

Ivana said: “People say ‘how can it get so messy?’

“But it’s a cycle.”

Ivana will tidy a room at a time – and tends to take three to four days cleaning each home.

She will buy or source furniture for the families where she can to help them keep their house neat.

Ivana said: “There are houses that are difficult to walk into.

“There was one with little crawling bugs.

“People say 'you’re literally saving my life'.

“My dream is to have a charity.

“Seeing someone else happy makes me happy.”

Ivana is currently cleaning homes around London, but hopes to be able to get volunteers to help clean further afield, before eventually starting a charity.

For anyone who wants to get involved or make a donation please contact @tidy_mindset247
