Ayah 255 of Surah Baqarah, also known as Ayatul Kursi (literally, "The Throne"), is the source of this passage. It is probably the most well-known ayat in the entire Ummah; estimates place its memorization at hundreds of millions of people. Finding a practicing Muslim who is unaware of Ayatul Kursi would be more challenging than finding one who is. You can't truly say this about many other Quranic verses, either.<br /><br />"Allah the lofty did not create anything in the air or on earth, in Jannat or Jahannam, Loftier than Ayatul Kursi," declared Abdullah Ibn Masud (RA), a companion of the Prophet Muhammad ( ).<br />
