A 27-year-old high school security guard named Angelo Jackson Mendiver pleaded guilty to manufacturing, selling, and mailing homemade explosives with a teenage accomplice in Bakersfield, California. Mendiver used an Instagram account to sell explosives and explosive materials and worked closely with a male juvenile high school student. On June 1, 2023, federal agents seized about 1,000 pounds of explosives from Mendiver's residence and a juvenile's home under a search warrant. Mendiver pleaded guilty to conspiring to engage in manufacturing and dealing in explosive materials and mailing explosive devices, as well as making false statements to FBI agents.
