A 34-year-old man has been shot dead by police at Nowra on the New South Wales south coast. Police were called to a medical clinic in the city's CBD when a patient produced a firearm. He confronted officers before being shot. The man did not have a significant criminal record but was known to police through psychological episodes. Staff members who had been inside the clinic with the man managed to get out unharmed.
