Vatican reveals restoration plans for St. Peter's canopy.

The Vatican plans to restore the monumental baldacchino over the main altar of St. Peter’s Basilica, a project funded by the Knights of Columbus costing 700,000 euros, with completion expected before Pope Francis' 2025 Jubilee. This marks the first comprehensive restoration of the 10-story tall structure in 250 years, originally commissioned by Pope Urban VIII in the 1620s-1630s from Gian Lorenzo Bernini to cover the tomb of St. Peter.

Photos by AP

Subscribe to The Manila Times Channel - https://tmt.ph/YTSubscribe

Visit our website at https://www.manilatimes.net

Follow us:
Facebook - https://tmt.ph/facebook
Instagram - https://tmt.ph/instagram
Twitter - https://tmt.ph/twitter
DailyMotion - https://tmt.ph/dailymotion

Subscribe to our Digital Edition - https://tmt.ph/digital

Check out our Podcasts:
Spotify - https://tmt.ph/spotify
Apple Podcasts - https://tmt.ph/applepodcasts
Amazon Music - https://tmt.ph/amazonmusic
Deezer: https://tmt.ph/deezer
Stitcher: https://tmt.ph/stitcher
Tune In: https://tmt.ph/tunein

#TheManilaTimes
#tmtnews
#vatican
#holy
