Sickening footage has emerged showing Coventry City star Kasey Palmer being racially abused by a group of Sheffield Wednesday supporters.<br /><br />In the video, the Wednesday fans are seen making monkey gestures towards the 27-year-old midfielder.<br /><br />Palmer, who won a throw-in late in the game just before the incident occurred, is seen informing referee Anthony Backhouse of what happened. <br /><br />Posting on social media after the game, Palmer wrote 'it feels like things will never change' <br /><br />The incident occurred during Coventry's 2-1 away win at Hillsborough on Saturday.<br /><br />Palmer appeared upset at the full-time whistle where he was comforted by team-mates and manager Mark Robins. <br /><br />'Disappointed to even have to come here and write this,' Palmer wrote.<br /><br />'Racism is a disgrace…it has no place in the world, let alone football.<br /><br />'I'm black and proud and I am raising my three kids to be the same.<br /><br />'I’ll be honest, it feels like things will never change, no matter how hard we try.<br /><br />'Couple fans doing monkey chants don’t define a fan base – I appreciate all the love and support I’ve received.'<br /><br />Sheffield Wednesday confirmed a racist gesture had been made by someone in the stands, with the club stating they were 'shocked and saddened' by the incident. <br /><br />'Both clubs roundly condemn any form of discrimination and abuse and underline that there is no place for this kind of behavior in football or our wider society,' a statement read.<br /><br />'We will work together with the relevant authorities and anyone proven to be culpable will face the strictest possible sanctions from both Sheffield Wednesday and the law. <br /><br />'We stand shoulder to shoulder with Coventry City and the football world in stamping out this abhorrent and wholly unacceptable behavior.'<br /><br />Coventry owner Doug King said the club will provide Palmer with support following the incident.<br /><br />Ben Sheaf scored both of Coventry's goals in the 2-1 win to take the Sky Blues into the play-off places, with Josh Windass scoring for the hosts, who remain second bottom.
