Here is the MAXIMUM altitude you could get to that flightgear can display before losing track (sorry, can't land on the sun)

The altitude meter on the right, it stopped tracking my height from earth and disappeared at 2,147,483,648 (in meters).<br />Most interesting parts are the missing earth when I look backwards.
