SNOOKER star Mark Allen launched a ball across the table and stormed off in frustration at the German Masters.

The Englishman, 37, trailed 62-11 in the sixth frame of a best-of-nine match against Thailand's Manasawin Phetmalaikul when he attempted to pot a fairly routine black.

But the World No3 missed by a long way, sparking a furious reaction.

As the black bounced between the jaws of the pocket, Allen threw one of the red balls across the table.

He then conceded the frame, which he could still have won, by storming off in a fit of rage as Phetmalaikul levelled things up at 3-3 in the pre-tournament qualifier.

Allen, a two-time UK Championship winner and 2018 Masters champion, ended up edging the match 5-4 with a break of 100 in the deciding frame to book his spot in the last 64.

But his actions in the sixth frame led many snooker fans to speculate that he could be set to receive a punishment.

One said: "Fine incoming."

While another responded: "Think he was given a warning on return too."

And a third replied: "What’s the matter with players at the mo? They’re all at this ♂️."

Allen's recovery to win the match has earned him a clash with Louis Heathcote in the first round of the main draw.

But other high-profile names failed to make it through qualifying in Berlin.

Reigning world champion Luca Brecel was beaten 5-2 by India's Ishpreet Singh Chadha.

Shaun Murphy also suffered a surprise defeat at the hands of Xu Si, while Marco Fu stunned four-time world champion Mark Selby.
