Golf fans' anticipation of Tiger Woods's return to the Genesis Invitational this week was heightened by a resurfaced clip of a previous hole-out from the icon.

Woods, 48, is teeing it up once again at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California as he makes his first competitive appearance since the end of November.

The 15-time major played in the Pro-Am ahead of the Genesis Invitational, a tournament he hosts outside of Los Angeles, on Wednesday but it was a past shot from 2020 that had fans going wild.

One day before he plays his first competitive round of 2024, the PGA Tour shared an iconic clip of the golfing great on social media with the caption: 'Tiger Woods doing Tiger Woods things.'

The resurfaced video shows Woods in his iconic Sunday red, playing the final round of the 2020 tournament.

Woods had fired his tee shot 315 yards down the par-five 17th at Riviera, only to find the greenside bunker with his second.

In the clip, Woods can be seen addressing his ball before fluffing his bunker shot, leaving it short of the green and still sandy.

But, showing the grit and determination that has become synonymous with the golf legend, he takes another crack at safety and not only the dance floor but also the hole.

The hole-out from the sand to card a birdie, however, did little to cut his deficit on the day as he went on to shoot a six-over 77 on the day, leaving him 11-over for the tournament.

Golf fans clearly couldn't remember Woods' overall performance that week as the resurfaced clip of the shot on 17 had them praising him.

Riviera is the site of Woods' PGA Tour debut - back in 1992 when he was just a 16-year-old amateur - but the 82-time winner on the Tour has yet to win at the LA course.

But he will look to buck that trend this week, beginning when he tees off alongside pal Justin Thomas and Gary Woodland at 12.25 pm ET Thursday.

It will mark his first full-field event on the PGA Tour since the 2023 Masters when he was forced to withdraw following the third round.

Woods suffered a reaggravated ankle injury at Augusta last April which forced him to undergo surgery two weeks later.

He made his competitive return at the Hero World Challenge - another tournament he hosts - in the Bahamas at the end of November. However, the event is a limited 20-player field.

Woods also competed in the PNC Championship for a fourth time with his son Charlie in December.

This week's tournament also marks the first time fans will see the icon compete in his new clothing brand, Sun Day Red.
Woods launched the clothing line earlier this week just over a month after confirming his split from Nike, following 27 years with the sportswear giant.

He gave fans a glimpse of his new attire when he wore the new designs during Tuesday's practice round and Wednesday's Pro-Am.
