Sweet Maya, a popular 1970s jazz-rock band from Kalamazoo, Michigan, formed in 1971 as a duo and then as a trio before adding three more members. Most of the members are composers and arrangers, all play instruments, and all but drummer supply vocals. The group initially stayed together for a couple of years. They reunited in 1976 at Don Neal's Mr. T-Bone, proceeding to perform together for two more years and released their debut self-titled album. Mid-West jazz-funk classic with elements of pop, folk, jazz, soul, funk and rock.
