SPORTS fans have been left astonished after discovering the utterly bizarre sport of "Rugball".<br /><br />Many would never have thought basketball and WWE could be combined to create one of the most unique sports on the planet.<br /><br />But that is what has happened in Russia as a form of violent NBA is taking shape.<br /><br />Elements of basketball and wrestling are prevalent, but the game also has a likeness to American football and rugby aspects.<br /><br />Footage of the sport shows that it is played on a basketball court with hoops at each end.<br /><br />However, the difference comes with the level of physical contact.<br /><br />It appears to be legal for players to perform German suplexes on each other as a form of tackle.<br /><br />And what is even more confusing is that those performing the suplexes often take their shirts off before throwing opposition players to the floor.<br /><br />Reacting to clips of the suplexes on social media, one person said: "Is this for real? WTF that is crazy."<br /><br />Another added: "The object is to strip naked and then suplex your opponent?"<br /><br />A third replied: "We had football on ice and now suplex basketball. What a time to be alive lol."<br /><br />While a fourth responded: "Is ripping the shirt off a rule?"<br /><br />The game is popular in Russia, where it is played at a professional level in a 22-team league.<br /><br />The fierce physicality of the contest, combined with the need for incredible fitness and sharp reactions, helped make it a popular pastime for MMA legend Khabib Nurmagomedov.<br /><br />It first went viral back in 2021 as NBA star Donovan Mitchell reacted: "Bro what is going on…"<br /><br />And Charlotte Hornets ace Terry Rozier added: "Man this def soccer, basketball, football, and wrestling all in 1."
