A man who lost a staggering 24 stone has told how he now faces paying £40k to have his excess skin removed because the NHS won't fund the op.<br /><br />Wayne Shepherd, 41, had gastric sleeve surgery which helped him shed 24 stone - dropping from his heaviest at 35 stone (226.8kg) to 11 stone today (72.4kg).<br /><br />The operation involves removing 80 per cent of the stomach to restrict the amount of food you can eat in one sitting.<br /><br />However, after the operation Wayne was told he did not qualify to have his excess skin removed on the NHS. <br /><br />Now he faces paying out £40k to go a private provider for the body contouring procedure on his arms, legs and chest.
