Ange Postecoglou delivered brutal home truths to those connected to Tottenham after becoming incensed by the grappling with how to approach the defeat by Manchester City.<br /><br />The Australian suggested that Spurs require a major mentality shift if they are to close the gap between themselves and the country’s elite – including City, who are one win away from securing an unprecedented fourth consecutive Premier League title.<br /><br />Postecoglou appeared to exchange words with a supporter from his technical area during the 2-0 defeat, sealed by two Erling Haaland goals either side of a glaring miss by Heung-min Son.<br /><br />And the 58-year-old believes the build-up to City’s visit, the rivalry with Arsenal dominating thoughts around the club, has shone a light on the problems he faces as manager.<br /><br />Incensed by the attitude towards the fixture some Spurs fans openly said they hoped their team lost to prevent Arsenal from claiming a first title in two decades.<br /><br />‘The last 48 hours have revealed that the foundations are fairly fragile,’ Postecoglou said. <br /><br />'‘It just means I've got to go back to the drawing board with some things. It’s outside (the club), inside, everywhere. It's been an interesting exercise.’<br /><br />Tottenham supporters chanted, ‘Are you watching Arsenal’ after Haaland’s 51st-minute opener.<br /><br />‘I'm not interested mate. I just don't care,’ Postecoglou added. ‘It's just my observations mate. I'm not going to tell you, because it's for me.<br /><br />‘I'm the one who's got to do it. You can make your assessments of what's happened. <br /><br />'I probably misread the situation as to what I think is important in your endeavor to become a winning team, but that's ok. That's why I'm here.’<br /><br />Postecoglou declined the invitation to divulge the exact areas he needs to correct moving into a second season in charge and suggested he has misunderstood what fans want.<br /><br />Asked if his grievances were tied up with the Arsenal rivalry, he said: ‘I'm just not interested mate. So what other people, how want to feel, and what their priorities are, are of zero interest to me. <br /><br />'I know what's important to build a winning team, that's what I need to concentrate on.<br /><br />‘I can't dictate what people do. They [the fans] are allowed to express themselves any way they want. But yeah, when we've got late winners in games it's because the crowd's helped us.<br /><br />‘I already know what I want to do, it's just I've got to make some adjustments to how I do it.’
