Watch the adorable moment a five-month-old baby gorilla takes its first steps without her mum.

Lucie Štěpničková, 37, was visiting Prague Zoo on June 14, 2024, when the baby gorilla, Mobi, five months, took her first steps.

Mobi - a critically endangered western lowland gorilla - was born in January 2, to mother Duni.

During Lucie's visit, Mobi walked independently away from her mum and started swinging on the rope in her enclosure.

Lucie, 37, from Prague, Czech Republic, said: "Duni finally let her little daughter Mobi go away from her.

"It is absolutely unbelievable because she usually holds her leg or her arm so she can't walk away from her.

"Now not only did she let her go two and a half meters without being held, but she also let her play on the rope by herself.

"I was cheering for her so much, and so did the rest of the visitors. We could see this for the very first time and for now probably the last time."

Since Mobi took her first independent steps, her mother Duni has been holding onto her and not letting her walk off.
