A seven-month-old baby girl has died after being mauled by her family's pet dog at home. <br /><br />Emergency services rushed to Shorncliffe Road, in Coventry, West Mids., after the horror unfolded at around 3pm on Sunday afternoon (16/6).<br /><br />The tot was rushed to hospital with severe head injuries but despite the efforts of medics she died a short time after.<br /><br />West Midlands Police said the pet, which was not classed as a dangerous breed, was removed from the property and humanely destroyed.<br /><br />A force spokesperson said: "A baby has tragically died after being bitten by a pet dog at a home in Coventry.<br /><br />"We were called to a property at Shorncliffe Road shortly after 3pm on Sunday.
