The statue of Christ the Redeemer, completed in 1931, stands atop the Corcovado Mountain in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This iconic monument, a symbol of Christianity and a representation of Brazilian culture, was designed by French sculptor Paul Landowski and constructed by Brazilian engineer Heitor da Silva Costa in collaboration with French engineer Albert Caquot. <br /><br />Rising 98 feet tall, with its arms stretching 92 feet wide, the statue overlooks the city with an embracing stance, symbolizing peace and welcoming.
