The match between Scotland and Hungary in Euro 2024 was stopped after a medical emergency in the second half.<br /><br />On Sunday night, Scotland arrived at the MHPArena knowing they needed a win to give themselves the best chance of advancing to the round of 16 at Euro 2024.<br /><br />Steve Clarke's men had most of the ball during a cagey first half but largely failed to make Hungary goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi work.<br /><br />In the match's second half, with 69 minutes on the clock, proceedings were stopped after a collision between Scotland goalkeeper Angus Gunn and Barnabas Varga.<br /><br />Varga was left on the deck and referee Facundo Tello stopped the game straight away.<br /><br />The medical staff rushed onto the pitch as concerns began to rise about the well-being of Varga.<br /><br />Speaking on the BBC, commentator Steve Wilson said that Hungary captain Dominik Szoboszlai was left in tears as blankets were held up to shield Varga from the cameras.<br /><br />Eventually, Varga was carried off a stretcher and replaced by Martin Adam.<br /><br />On BBC Radio 5 Live, former Scotland player Pat Nevin said: "We have seen it before if a keeper comes out and he doesn't get the ball but takes a player it is a foul. I think Angus Gunn got some of the ball there."<br /><br />Sky Sports reporter Joe Shread said: "There's going to be plenty of stoppage time. Varga looks in a very bad way.<br /><br />"Let's hope this isn't as serious as it looks."<br />
