The Death Egg has fallen back on Angel Island, and Sonic finds himself in the deep mushroom-infested forest known as the Mushroom Hill Zone. Quickly spotting Knuckles suspiciously leaving a secret area, Sonic and Tails discover a portal to the alter of the Master Emerald. Once there, the Chaos Emeralds disperse across the chamber, transformed into Super Emeralds.
