Swiss plans to attempt stratosphere flight in solar-powered aircraft

Raphaël Domjan and his SolarStratos team will attempt a new record this summer – reaching the stratosphere, at over 10,000 meters, with a solar-powered airplane. 'To fly an electric and solar aircraft at the same altitude as commercial airliners, that would really be an incredible first,' Domjan, who describes himself as an ‘eco-explorer’, told AFP. For him, this challenge is also a way of raising public awareness: 'We have the technology, we have renewable energies, we can change, we can stop burning these 300 tons of fossil fuels per second as we do now. But that doesn't mean we have to stop flying,” said Domjan.

AFP VIDEO

Subscribe to The Manila Times Channel - https://tmt.ph/YTSubscribe

Visit our website at https://www.manilatimes.net

Follow us:
Facebook - https://tmt.ph/facebook
Instagram - https://tmt.ph/instagram
Twitter - https://tmt.ph/twitter
DailyMotion - https://tmt.ph/dailymotion

Subscribe to our Digital Edition - https://tmt.ph/digital

Check out our Podcasts:
Spotify - https://tmt.ph/spotify
Apple Podcasts - https://tmt.ph/applepodcasts
Amazon Music - https://tmt.ph/amazonmusic
Deezer: https://tmt.ph/deezer
Tune In: https://tmt.ph/tunein

#TheManilaTimes
#tmtnews
#solarstratos
#stratosphere
