Kuma, how it works, what we can configure with it and why is it different 2/2

In this video I am discussing how to setup a cluster to be able to work with Kuma meshes. In the first chapter I will go through an example application that I have created partially using Spring services implemented with Java and Kotlin and using a PostgreSQL database. In the second chapter I discuss how to apply policies, how kuma recognizes labels and namespaces, how to read domains and apply them to references, sources and targets and finally I go quickly through other features that can also be used in Kuma. I will talk about these in further details in coming videos and intend to do 2 more videos about this making the second a mid-level Kuma tutorial and the final one an advanced one.

Enjoy the video and have a good one everyone!
Have a good one!

---

Chapters:

00:00 Start
00:43 What is Kuma?
01:35 Chapter I - Getting the services up and running
03:35 Chapter I - Step I - Our Application
08:45 Chapter I - Step II - Installing all commands
16:50 Chapter I - Step III - Creating a cluster
17:30 Chapter I - Step III.1 - Installing k9s
26:05 Chapter I - Step IV - Creating a local docker registry
37:00 Chapter I - Step V - Going through the code
42:40 Chapter I - Step VI - Making the deploy scripts
48:55 Chapter I - Step VII - Running the application
1:03:00 Chapter II - Exploring Kuma Features
1:03:15 Chapter II - MeshTrafficPermission
1:03:55 Chapter II - Mesh
1:19:30 Chapter II - MeshFaultInjection
1:24:25 See you in the next video!
1:26:55 Disclaimer

---

Documents:

- On slide-share: https://www.slideshare.net/slideshow/kuma-meshes-part-i-the-basics-a-tutorial/267147987
- On Scribd: https://www.scribd.com/presentation/720835598/Kuma-Meshes-Part-I

---

Source code:

---

As a short disclaimer, I'd like to mention that I'm not associated or affiliated with any of the brands eventually shown, displayed, or mentioned in this video.

---

All my work and personal interests are also discoverable on other different sites:

- My Website - https://joaofilipesabinoesperancinha.nl/
- Reddit - https://www.reddit.com/user/jesperancinha
- Credly - https://www.credly.com/users/joao-esperancinha/badges
- Pinterest - https://nl.pinterest.com/jesperancinha/
- Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/joaofisaes/
- Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/joaofisaes/
- Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/user/jlnozkcomrxgsaip7yvffpqqm
- Medium - https://medium.com/@jofisaes
- Daily Motion - https://www.dailymotion.com/jofisaes
- Tumblr - https://www.tumblr.com/blog/jofisaes

---

If you have any questions about this video please put a comment in the comment section below and I will be more than happy to help you or discuss any related topic you'd like to discuss.

If you want to discover more about my open-source work please visit me on GitHub at:

- GitHub - https://github.com/jesperancinha
