A couple’s lives are being made a misery after their home was invaded by ravenous rats which bite their TOES as they sleep.

Andy Roberts, 56, and Rosie Glazzard, 53, are also terrified to use their toilet after seeing one swimming around the pan.

Andy’s big toe was also nibbled as he slept in bed while Rosie's foot was bitten as well as her bottom.

The couple have been left stressed and struggling to sleep after their home of 30 years was invaded by vermin last December.

Shocking pictures show piles of rodent droppings under the bath of their home in Bannut Hill in Kempsey, Worcester.

Video also shows a rat splashing around in their toilet in their bathroom.

Their sofa and floorboards have been gnawed while the wires to their freezer have been chewed through as the rats swarm their home.

The couple's kitchen has also been taken over with teeth and claw marks on food tins where the rats tried to open them.

Although pest controllers have been out to put down poison in trays, Andy says it isn’t working.

Just days after the poison was set he found a baby rat swimming in his toilet.

Rosie, who suffers with mental health issues, says she has been repeatedly attacked by the rats.

She said: "I've been bitten three times. I was bitten last night on the bum and bitten on the toe the night before."

The couple first noticed they had a rat problem before Christmas and reported the issue to Malvern Hills District Council.

Platform Housing, which owns their home, were notified and they sent pest controllers to their maisonette where they trapped a rat in a jar.

Andy said: "We have asked the council to move us. We should not be living here with rats.

“I can't stay here tonight. We need somewhere else to go. When Rosie was asleep there was a rat on the back of the settee.

“It was there for a few seconds, looking at me.

"I could not believe my eyes when I saw one in the toilet bowl.

“I felt a bit sick. It was a baby rat. Our neighbour Jan Jarvis came out and killed it. I didn't have the nerve to do it.

"We just don't seem to be getting nothing done quickly enough to get rid of the rats.

“How much longer have we got to stay in here with this rat problem?"

Because Andy works as a cleaner at Meridian Speciality Packaging, he said he has been told not to come into work until the rats are gone.

Marion Duffy, chief operations officer at Platform Housing Group said: “We are sorry to hear of our customers' concerns; we arranged for pest control to visit their home and we are awaiting their report so that we can deal with the issue.

"We will continue to keep our customers updated.”
