Colombian acting mayor arrested at posh home on drug trafficking charges<br />Colombian acting mayor, Kevin Simón López barros, arrested on drug trafficking charges.<br /><br />The secretary of state and acting mayor of a Colombian city was arrested and is now facing extradition to the United States.<br /><br />Kevin López was taken into custody Wednesday at his home in Riohacha, the capital of the province of La Guajira near the border with the Venezuelan state of Zulia.<br /><br />López is accused by the Southern District of Florida of conspiring to commit a crime and drug trafficking, Colombia's Attorney General's Office said in a statement.<br /><br />He was transferred to a holding facility in Bogotá as part of the process to complete his extradition.
