Rhiannon was an 80's British folk band who released this sole album in 1985. The name of the band and the title of the album are directly connected to the myths of Celtic folklore and to the poem by Ian Irvine. The Welsh goddess Rhiannon Great Queen was accompained by totem birds whose songs could awaken the dead and lull the living to sleep. Birds possessed supernatural powers, and throughout Celtic myths, divine entities frequently shape-shift between human and bird form. Nice interludes between male/female vocals, music nicely arranged, with a good merge between acoustic and electric instrumentation.

Linda Hurcombe - vocals, bodhràn,cowbell, treble recorder, whistle.
Michael Thorpe - vocals, mandola.
Stella Davis - whistle, percussion, descant recorder, marching snare, bells on a stick.
Myke Barritt - acoustic guitar, acoustic bass, electric mandolin.
Craig Booker - strings, synthesizer, electric piano, acoustic guitar.

Twa Corbies.
Rince Briotanach.
The maid of Coolmore.
Gallopping trots.
Lovely Joan.
Will ye go to Flanders?
Apples in winter.
Fhir a' bhata.
Spanish ladies.
