Caitlin Clark cracked a joke at her own expense after seeing the replay of when she tweaked her ankle during the first half of the Fever’s 84-79 win over the Dream on Monday night.<br /><br />The Fever rookie turned her ankle while playing defense in the first quarter — and fell to the floor and grabbed her ankle as she writhed in pain.<br /><br />“I saw the replay, and I look soft,” Clark said, which drew laughs from Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell and head coach Christie Sides. “It wasn’t that bad of a turn, but it hurt.<br /><br />CC on her ankle injury: “I saw the replay, and I look soft. It wasn’t that bad of a turn, but it hurt.”<br /><br />“So. sometimes you just need to give yourself a second. If you’ve ever turned your ankle, it just kind of stings for a little bit, so I was good.”<br /><br />Clark walked under her power to the bench and was looked at by the training staff.<br /><br />The star rookie was seen sitting with her shoe off and ankle taped.<br /><br />Caitlin Clark checked out of the Fever game after rolling her ankle on this play.<br /><br />Clark remained on the bench for the remainder of the first quarter following her injury scare and then returned to action to start the second quarter.<br /><br />She finished with 19 points, seven assists and seven rebounds.<br /><br />Her four 3-pointers tied the rookie record of 85 by the Dream’s Rhyn Howard in 2022.<br /><br />Mitchell led the Fever in scoring with 29 points.<br /><br />Aliyah Boston, the Fever’s first overall pick in 2023, recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards.
