Chinese netizens are mourning the death of a British social media influencer. ‘Uncle Ganba’ has over one million followers on the Chinese version of TikTok, Douyin.<br />He was shot to fame after his wife, a Chinese woman, shared his preparation of simple sandwiches online. The Chinese social media users nicknamed the Western-styled dishes as “White People Food”, joking about its tastelessness while hailing its low calories. Ganba in Chinese means dry and tasteless food. <br />Uncle Ganba was diagnosed with cancer. When news of his death emerged on Tuesday, many social media users reposted the news, one saying “even though I didn’t know him in person, it felt like losing a close friend.”<br />
