Wayne Rooney shows he's still got it and why he remains Manchester United’s record goalscorer.<br /><br />The ex-Premier League star hit a stunning free kick in the Manchester United vs Celtic Legends game at Old Trafford today.<br /><br />The curling effort stunned Boruc in goal, who just stood helpless in the goals as the effort whizzed passed him straight into the top left corner. <br /><br /><br />The now Plymouth manager's 25-yard strike has propelled the Red Devils into the lead in the star-studded exhibition game.<br /><br />During his decorated career Rooney, 38, scored a record 253 goals for United across 559 games. <br /><br />The Old Trafford legend joined the Manchester club from Everton in 2004 and well the rest is history.<br /><br />The scouse-born striker won five league titles, an FA Cup, three League Cups, the Champions League in 2008, the Europa League, and a Club World Cup under Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United with United.<br /><br />Rooney went on to play out the vast majority of his career with United, spending 13 years with the Red Devils. <br /><br />He left the club in 2017 to rejoin his childhood club Everton where he played one full season before going elsewhere.<br /><br />He joined American outfit DC United the following year before finishing his playing career with Derby County.<br /><br />Ahead of the game today Rooney did admit that he would have liked to don the jersey of the Scottish club during his playing time.<br /><br />He admitted to Celtic's club media: 'Celtic has always been a team I have followed and wanted to win.<br /><br />'Unfortunately, I did not get the opportunity to play for Celtic. I would have liked to.<br /><br />'But I did not work out and I did not get that chance.'
