China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi called for stronger unity and cooperation within the BRICS alliance on Wednesday, in response to "political forces holding Cold War mentalities."<br /><br />Speaking at the 14th BRICS security officials meeting in St. Petersburg, Wang highlighted BRICS’ growing economic influence, which now generates over a third of global wealth.<br /><br />The meeting comes just ahead of a BRICS summit next month in Kazan, where Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping are expected to attend.<br /><br />BRICS has recently expanded to include Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates.
