Flooding swamps UK as month’s worth of rain falls in a day<br />#uk #flood #extremeweather<br />Heavy rain and thunderstorms have caused flooding across parts of England, closing schools, damaging homes and swamping roads and railways.<br /><br />Downpours over Sunday night and into Monday morning drenched parts of the nation with the Met Office recording more than a month’s worth of rain in 24 hours in some locations.<br /><br />Several schools in Bedfordshire were forced to shut as water poured into buildings. A handful of schools in Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire also closed.<br /><br />AFC Wimbledon’s Carabao Cup tie against Newcastle United on Tuesday night has been postponed after the League Two club’s ground was flooded.
