Good Samaritans who are battling to save a dog that became encased in a rock crevice have reached the eighth day of their rescue mission.

The Jack Russell, called Rose, tumbled roughly 26ft (8m) through a 12-inch (30cm) opening in the rocky outcrop last Thursday (Sept 26).

Firefighters were called twice to the site, near Dudley Crescent, Halifax, West Yorks., but chose not to intervene due to worries over the ‘structural integrity’ of the crag.

So local workers, some of whom have been sleeping at the site, have spent the last week working day and night to free the mutt before it’s too late.
