Vatican unveils St. Peter's Baldachin as first restoration in 250 years nears completion<br /><br />Concealed by scaffolding since February, the restoration of the gilded Baldachin in St. Peter's Basilica is nearing completion, with the 30-meter-tall centrepiece's reinvigorated features being unveiled during a press tour. The Baroque canopy is a masterpiece by Gian Lorenzo Bernini and last underwent work in 1758.
