The story begins in 1730 when the Wada was commissioned by Baji Rao I, the Peshwa of the Maratha Empire. Constructed using the finest craftsmanship of the time, it was a sprawling complex, complete with lush gardens, ornate wooden pillars, and grand courtyards.
