The Remarkable Beetles

In Borneo, beetles showcase their evolutionary success, with over 370,000 species discovered. The Atlas beetle, one of the largest, emerges from the ground after feeding on wood pulp as a larva. Male beetles, equipped with long horns, use these weapons to compete for mates. Though they appear clumsy, beetles can fly, using hardened front wings as protective covers. At critical life moments, beetles take to the air in search of food and mates, carefully packing their wings away after landing. Their ability to fly as needed, despite their size and strength, demonstrates their adaptability and is a testament to their success as a species. This adaptability is a reflection of Allah’s wisdom in equipping creatures with diverse abilities to thrive in their environments.

"And He it is who created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon, each gliding along in its orbit." (Surah Al-Anbiya 21:33).

"Most Blessed is Allah, the Best of Creators." (Surah Al-Mu’minun 23:14).
