A TINY 16-year-old teenager beat a sumo wrestler twice his size and took social media by storm.

Unlike other combat sports, such as boxing and MMA, sumo wrestling doesn't have weight divisions, meaning sumos are always at risk of being outmuscled and overpowered.

Those were the odds young aspiring wrestler Kosei was facing when he stepped inside the dohyo to lock horns with his much larger and more experienced opponent Amamidake, 39.

However, the teen sensation put his superior speed and agility to good use.

Kosei managed to outsmart Amamidake as he ran circles around him and led him to the edge.

That's where he showed great footwork and got his opponent to step outside before he did.

The sensational David vs Goliath encounter made the rounds online and left sports fans in awe.

One tweeted: "A 16-year-old this is pretty brutal."

Another commented: "As a 39yo, I’m pretty sure a 16yo could beat me at any physical sport."

A third wrote: "Heart-warming… The lil guy can sometimes win."

This fan gasped: "Oh wow."

And that one said: "Fun fact. Smaller guys have more advantages in wrestling, and grappling fight.

"But for real this is still a sight to see. Kudos to the kid."
