New giant pandas unveiled to media in Hong Kong ahead of public debut<br /><br />Two giant pandas gifted to Hong Kong by Beijing were unveiled to the press on Monday, December 2, just days ahead of their official naming ceremony and public debut.<br /><br />Originally named "An An" and "Ke Ke," the pandas were gifted to mark the 27th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to Chinese rule.<br /><br />The five-year-old pair arrived in the city from Sichuan province on September 26 and have spent two months settling into their new home. Since then, the Hong Kong government has held a naming contest for the two — the results of which will be unveiled during the official handover ceremony this Saturday (December 7).
