Mallorca defender Johan Mojica bizarrely headbutted his team-mate during their La Liga defeat by Barcelona.

Mallorca have enjoyed an impressive season so far, with the Island-club sitting in sixth place and just two points off the Champions League spots.

However, they were dealt a reality check by Barcelona on Tuesday evening, with the Catalan giants extending their lead over Real Madrid to four points at the top of the table following a 5-1 away win.

The in-form Raphinha scored twice, while Ferran Torres, Frenkie de Jong, and Pau Victor also got on the scoresheet.

Things had been looking up for the hosts when Vedat Muriqi equalized on the stroke of half-time, but things took a turn for the worse after the break.

On 56 minutes Mallorca left back Mojica felled Lamine Yamal in the area to concede a penalty, and the Colombian was left fuming.

After the award of the spot kick, Mojica saw the red mist and remarkably confronted his team-mate Manu Morlanes, before he headbutted him.

Morlanes didn't react to the headbutt, but said something back to his colleague before Mojica then punched him in the arm.

Mojica's actions towards his team-mate were bizarre, with no clear motivation, although Morlanes was speaking under his breath with his mouth covered at the time.

Mojica's moment of madness capped a disastrous night for the 32-year-old Colombian, who struggled throughout against Yamal.

He made a costly error for the first goal and was regularly beaten by the 17-year-old as Barcelona attacked.

Mojica joined Mallorca in the summer from Villarreal in the next step of a career that has seen him play for seven different Spanish clubs, while he has also racked up 36 caps for Colombia.

His side return to action on Friday when they travel to take on Celta Vigo, who are currently 12th in the Spanish top flight.
