50,000-year-old mammoth uncovered in Siberia

In Siberia’s permafrost, researchers have unveiled the remarkably well-preserved remains of a juvenile mammoth, believed to have been frozen for more than 50,000 years. <br /><br />Recovered from the Batagaika crater, the world’s largest permafrost crater, the mammoth was discovered by local residents.<br /><br />The mammoth is estimated to have been only a little over a year old when it died. The carcass weighs over 110 kilograms and is one of the most intact specimens found in recent years.<br /><br />#mammoth #siberia #russia<br />
