Gary Neville was forced to concede that Liverpool will win the Premier League this season after being put into a submission maneuver by former WWE champion Sheamus.

The Manchester United legend was appearing on the 'It's Called Soccer' podcast alongside the Irishman and die-hard Reds supporter.

After featuring in most of Sir Alex Ferguson's sides that dominated English football for two decades - often at the expense of the Anfield club - Seamus was keen not to let his time with former right-back pass without incident.

The 46-year-old instructed Neville to get on the floor before he completed a sharpshooter move on the Red Devils icon.

This involved lifting Neville before flipping him over and applying pressure to his back.

'Just lay on the ground there,' Sheamus said before his fun began. 'I feel sorry for you... do you know how long I've waited to do this... since I was probably 12/14 years old.'

'This is called the Clover Leaf. Say Liverpool are going to win the league.'

Neville replied: 'F*** Liverpool!"

'Say Liverpool is number one! Say it, Gary! Say it,' Sheamus adds, before Neville obliged.

Host Rebecca Lowe laughed hysterically as she watched on from the sofas, with Neville squealing during the ordeal.

Sheamus, who joined WWE in 2009, has been one of the biggest names in the sport since first bursting onto the scene but could leave professional wrestling this year.

He once had the perfect taunt for a Manchester crowd as WWE toured the UK in 2018. As part of a tag team with Cesaro, the pair made their regular entrance in trench coats.

However, once they made it to the ring, Sheamus and Cesaro stripped off revealing Liverpool shirts to the crowd. Sheamus also serenaded those in attendance with a rendition of 'You’ll Never Walk Alone'.
