A stowaway chicken was rescued by road workers after clinging to the back of their lorry and surviving a 25-mile journey at nearly 60mph.<br /><br />The hen hitched a ride from a depot in Hartwell, Northants., to Irthlingborough, unnoticed until a resident spotted it running loose.<br /><br />Workman Luke Stinson shared his sandwich and water with the bird before safely returning it to the farm.<br /><br />The crew suspects the chicken had been roosting near a hopper of road grit, with Luke remarking, “It’s done bloomin’ well to get here.”
