Atalanta captain Rafael Toloi had a moment to forget after failing to throw the ball at his opponent and slipping over - only to be sent off moments later. <br /><br />In the final moment of his side's Champions League clash with Club Brugge - which the Belgian side won 5-2 on aggregate - the defender clashed with Maxim De Cuyper. <br /><br />In a heated moment, Toloi attempted to throw the ball at the Brugge defender, who had his back turned but instead fell over as the ball slipped out of his grasp. <br /><br />He quickly got back to his feet and charged at De Cuyper, barging him from behind before bundling himself and the Brugge player onto the floor. <br /><br />Referee Felix Zwayer quickly issued a red card to the Atalanta skipper, who was held back by teammates as he remonstrated with the official. <br /><br />The incident occurred in the final moments of the match, with the score already settled, meaning his dismissal had little effect on the outcome of the match. <br /><br />On the night, teenager Chemsdine Talbi scored an early double as Club Brugge stormed into a three-goal lead before holding off a second-half onslaught. <br /><br />Ferran Jutgla netted the visitors´ other goal as Brugge stunned the Italian side with a 3-0 halftime lead, but they had to fight a desperate rearguard action in the second half as their hosts looked to conjure up an unlikely comeback. <br /><br />Ademola Lookman pulled one goal back for Atalanta but then had a penalty saved by veteran goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, who made several other important stops to stymie home hopes and see the Belgian side advance to the last 16 5-2 on aggregate. <br /><br />Atalanta´s elimination added to a calamitous night for Italian football, following AC Milan´s exit earlier when they were held to a 1-1 draw by visitors Feyenoord of the Netherlands and went out of the Champions League 2-1 on aggregate. <br /><br />Elsewhere on the night, Celtic's Champions League dreams were crushed most cruelly as they conceded in the 94th minute to crash out at Bayern Munich. <br /><br />The Scottish champions were leading 1-0 on the night thanks to Nicolas-Gerrit Kuhn's goal and were headed for extra time with the aggregate score sat at 2-2. <br /><br />Celtic have not made the last 16 since 2012-13, but against all the odds, Brendan Rodgers' side looked to have a chance after a battling performance at the Allianz Arena. <br /><br />But in the final minute of stoppage time, Alphonso Davies pounced on a rebound after a Kasper Schmeichel save to prod home from close range and dump Celtic out of the Champions League.
