Jordan Henderson embroiled in spat with Premier League ref as Ajax star is booked from the bench during mass brawl

Jordan Henderson managed to get himself a yellow card while he wasn't even on the pitch as Ajax edged their way into the last-16 of the Europa League tie.<br /><br />Henderson started on the bench for the second leg against Union Saint-Gilloise in the Netherlands on Thursday night, which the Dutch side went into with a 2-0 lead.<br /><br />The home side made life very difficult for them, as that advantage was quickly wiped away during a disastrous first half.<br /><br />Kevin Mac Allister, brother of Liverpool star Alexis, headed home in the 16th minute before Davy Klaasen was sent off for deliberate handball, and Promise David converted the subsequent penalty.<br /><br />Things got heated in the second half when Akinpelu fouled Ajax's Jorthy Mokio, leading to a scuffle between both sets of players as Saint-Gilloise's Sofiane Boufal refused to hand over the ball.<br /><br />The pushing and shoving spilled over to the dugouts, where Henderson came racing over to get involved.<br /><br /><br />The melee was eventually calmed down whilst Henderson could be seen making a 'keep talking' gesture on the touchline. <br /><br />He was one of several players shown a yellow card by referee Chris Kavanagh, a seventh booking of the season for the 34-year-old. <br /><br />Henderson was still brought on to help his side find a winner, and they did just that.<br /><br />Kenneth Taylor spared their blushes by converting the game's second penalty in the third minute of extra time after Christian Burgess' handball.
