Four Leeds gang members who shot at a rival as they chased him through the streets have been sentenced today following an investigation by specialist detectives who target serious youth violence.<br /><br />Frightened members of the public called police when they saw the masked males, armed with a gun and machetes, pursuing the 17-year-old victim in Foundry Approach and Coldcotes Circus, in Gipton, at about 3pm on Sunday, July 7 last year.<br /><br />During the chase the handgun was fired at the victim, but the bullet lodged in the barrel of the converted blank-firing pistol.<br /><br />The victim fled into a nearby convenience store and escaped out of the back door.<br /><br />Officers were deployed to the scene and detained the four suspects in Brown Hill Terrace, Harehills, after a search of the wider area.
