Tenants near Anne Hathaway’s Cottage are being evicted by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, prompting claims the properties will be turned into holiday lets.<br /><br />Residents of the historic cottages in Shottery, Warwickshire, were given two months' notice on February 17 to vacate their homes for renovations.<br /><br />The trust says the work, including heating system upgrades, will take six months, but tenants argue repairs could be done while they remain.<br /><br />Some have lived there for decades and say the move prioritises tourism over community.<br /><br />The trust has not denied plans for short-term lets after the renovations.
