Situated to the south of the beautiful village of Uphill, the popular Uphill Hill Local Nature Reserve is a lovely 17-hectare site owned by North Somerset Council.<br /><br />The serene nature reserve is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and forms part of the Mendip Limestone Grasslands Special Area of Conservation, (SAC) supporting a diverse flora and valuable insect habitat.<br /><br />In spring, a gorgeous display of cowslips, primroses and green-winged orchids covers the northern and eastern hill slopes.<br /><br />The climb up the hill is absolutely worth it to enjoy the dazzling views overlooking Weston-super-Mare and the Bristol Channel.<br /><br />The hill is also home to a beautiful 16th-century stone watch tower and St Nicholas' Church, an old Norman church dating from around 1080 AD and consists of a tower, chancel and roofless nave.<br /><br />Uphill Hill Local Nature Reserve has a small free parking area near the entrance and by The Boathouse, a dog-friendly café just a short walk away.<br />
