GOLFER Adam Hadwin's suffered the worst club smash backfire in history.<br /><br />The 37-year-old had just double-bogeyed the 10th hole during his second round at the Valspar Championship on Friday.<br /><br />That left him three over par and all but certain to miss the cut.<br /><br />And the frustration appeared to get too much for the Canadian.<br /><br />As Hadwin walked off the green in anger, he walloped his club into the rough.<br /><br />Unfortunately for the raging 2017 Valspar champion, it was more than just steam that he let off.<br /><br />That's because he accidentally smashed a sprinkler buried in the grass.<br /><br />Powerful jets of water immediately exploded out of the ground, leaving him drenched.<br /><br />Hadwin initially walked off and came straight back with a sheepish look on his face.<br /><br />He tried his best to stop the water flow while searching for a valve.<br /><br />But Hadwin could not stop it from spraying all over the shop.<br /><br />And fans were left chuckling as they reacted on social media.<br /><br />One said: “He should be DQ’d for that.”<br /><br />Another declared: “Oh wow that’s embarrassing.”<br /><br />One noted: “Make him stand there until they fix it.”<br /><br />Another added: “Dumb move, he is soaked through.”<br /><br />Hadwin was hoping to produce some magic after sliding to 76th on the Official World Golf Ranking.<br /><br />The Canadian is yet to secure a top-20 finish in eight PGA Tour starts this year.<br /><br />But another double bogey at 16 saw him post a second-round 76 to finish 5-over par for the tournament, three shots behind the cut line.
