Endometrium is the term for the tissue that lines the uterus. If a woman does not become pregnant, this tissue is typically shed each month during the period. Tissue that resembles endometrial tissue and behaves similarly implants outside the uterus in endometriosis. Pain, painful periods, and infertility may result from this. Infertility is frequently brought on by endometriosis. This may occur if endometrial tissue grows around the fallopian tubes or ovaries, where it may also inflame the area and leave scar tissue. <br />Cystic lesions called endometriomas are caused by the endometriosis disease process. The ovaries are where endometriomas are most frequently noticed. They are commonly referred to as "chocolate cysts," as they contain endometrial fluid that is a deep brown colour. Cysts caused by endometriosis on the ovary can be identified using ultrasound. Treatment options vary and are significantly affected by endometriosis symptoms, the severity of endometriosis, and other infertility factors such as ovarian reserve, age, and duration of infertility.
