THIS is the embarrassing moment a runner celebrated winning a marathon before crossing the line - only to be overtaken.<br /><br />The dramatic incident took place at the Chongqing Half in China on Sunday.<br /><br />Footage shows a woman named Xiao Fen running towards the finishing line.<br /><br />As she takes her final few strides, she lifts her arms into the air in celebration and slightly slows down.<br /><br />Xiao was unaware that Gan Zhifang was breathing down her neck and was not settling for second place.<br /><br />She stole victory right on the line and let out a joyful roar.<br /><br />The sensational clip has gone viral on social media, being watched thousands of times.<br /><br />Speaking to local press after the disappointment, Xiao admitted to letting her guard down before crossing the line and said she "opened the champagne" too early.<br /><br />But she remained happy with her second-place finish as it was her best.<br /><br />Over 15,000 runners took part in the Chongqing Half on Sunday, and 8,000 in the amateur competitive race.<br /><br />At the full marathon earlier this month, robots waved to runners as they sprinted past ahead of a stunning project in Beijing in April.<br /><br />Dozens of "humanoid" robots are set to compete alongside real people in a race across the city.
