Buyers are willing to pay 10 per cent more for homes with eco-upgrades, according to a study.<br /><br />A poll of 1,400 homeowners found 69 per cent want to ensure their next property will be firing on all cylinders when it comes to sustainability.<br /><br />With solar panels (36 per cent), EV charging points (25 per cent), and heat pumps (18 per cent) among the most sought after.<br /><br />But many homes are currently undergoing ‘greenovation’, as 58 per cent want to save money in the short term, with 64 per cent hoping it will lead to a bigger valuation down the line, according to research commissioned by Smart Energy GB.<br /><br />TV presenter and property expert Scarlette Douglas, who has visited some of Britain’s unique eco-homes, said: “I really enjoyed having the opportunity to uncover how Brits are greenifying their homes.<br /><br />“From solar-powered lighting to rainwater recycling, it’s cool to see the new and quirky eco-elements people are adding to their homes.<br /><br />“The financial benefits people see with the help of a smart meter are clear, too."
