A fire at an electrical substation in Maida Vale, West London, forced the evacuation of around 100 residents from a block of flats early today.<br /><br />Flames and thick smoke were visible from nearby buildings, with a resident describing the terrifying moment they saw the fire spread.<br /><br />Fifteen fire engines and 100 firefighters tackled the blaze, which caused significant damage, including a collapsed roof.<br /><br />No injuries were reported, and after several hours, the fire was extinguished.<br /><br />London Fire Brigade used foam to suppress the flames, and air quality in the area is being monitored.
