The Eagle is a 1925 silent drama film directed by Clarence Brown, based on Alexander Pushkin's novel “Dubrovsky”. The story follows Vladimir Dubrovsky, a lieutenant in the Russian army who catches the attention of Czarina Catherine II. After rejecting her advances, he flees and becomes a masked vigilante known as "The Black Eagle" to avenge his father's death and protect the oppressed. Disguised as a tutor, Vladimir infiltrates the household of his enemy, Kyrilla Troekouroff, only to fall in love with Kyrilla's daughter, Mascha.
